Dear Friends and Family,

Season's Greetings from the Novaks!

The Year 2002 has been an exciting one for us! Though it started slowly, it ends with Novaks in their own place for the first time in more then a decade…
… but I'm getting ahead of myself here!

Perhaps the central event of the year has been the holiday trip we took to Quebec in July. During the course of seven days, we have covered more then 3,500km, absorbing so many sights and cultures, it took us weeks to process it all!

(You can see the details of our trips on the main webpage here)

We have had a good year both individually and collectively.
Mladen is still working for IBM Canada, contracted to Canadian Tire, where he has been recognized for his original and dedicated contributions to the project. Still, he most enjoys coming home and spending time with 'the rest of the gang'

Jelena, is enjoying her job at Moloney-Electric, where she is faced with numerous new challenges each day. Since moving to Canada, she has not only overcome her previous mistrust of computers (something us computer 'experts' still find hard to do), but has continued to add new skills to her repertoire.
This includes her newfound love of cooking (possibly initially taken in desperation after the all-meat diet Mladen favours when he prepares the meals)

Ivona has had perhaps the most successful year of all of us! She became a hard-working student with excellent grades and is looking forward to graduation and college/university plans at the end of 2003. She is very happy with her current job at a clothing store in Eaton's centre, Toronto's premier mall. She also seems rather satisfied with her boyfriend, as they will be celebrating their first anniversary this coming January

The end seems near for
Nikola - the finishing of the University Degree, that is. Due to various administrative issues brought upon by our move to Toronto, he occasionally felt like Sisyphus, charged with a never-ending task, but it appears that the rock might finally reach the top of the hill . He also seems to cram ever more computers and assorted machinery in his room - when he isn't out with his friends… probably talking about computers too!

We have also taken a giant leap forward by buying our very own condominium in Southern Etobicoke. We will be moving in January, thus fulfilling the North American Dream: As the saying goes, we came here with nothing but shirt on our shoulders; and now, after years of hard work, we are finally deep in debt and mortgage

We hope you will have a successful and happy 2003

Happy holidays!

Mladen, Jelena, Nikola & Ivona Novak

A Just-for-the-heck-of-it picture: We are told that this family, living in Missisauga, has this year put up 50,000 lights
more than last year!
